Oakland Local Tree And Garden Care - All Type Of Tree Services Available

Tree Services

We tackle all types of trees, from fruit trees to overgrown leylandii.

Trees benefit from being trimmed, the air needs to circulate round the trees for healthy growth.

Diseased branches can be removed without the need for removing the tree altogether if the rest of the tree is healthy.

If trees are close to a building they can block out the natural light through the windows, again, it may only be necessary to trim the tree rather than remove it.  We assess all trees and consult with you, the customer, to see what your requirements are and to discuss the options available.

We trim or remove branches.

Remove trees to the stump level.

Topping, Pruning, Thinning, Dead wooding, Crown Reduction, Crown Lifting.

Apple and Pear Trees a speciality.

Overhanging trees are trimmed back to the boundaries.

Recycling

All tree, hedge and shrub waste is removed from the site and is either used or recycled, so nothing goes to waste.

Pruning

Pruning and Trimming

Pruning or trimming trees is carried out to remove branches, whether small or large, and to promote the growth of healthy trees.
An overgrown tree is not a healthy indication.

Each tree will be individually considered in relation to the shape, size, character, condition, site and species of tree. Fruit trees, in particular need special treatment.

All operations will be completed leaving each tree in an acceptable, well-balanced and safe condition. Each branch will be removed using the ABC cut method where risk of tearing is reduced. Thus allowing the tree to heal and promoting healthy growth.

Crown Lifting

Crown Lifting
Occasionally the larger branches at the lower section of the tree need removing to allow, people to pass under the tree or enable people to mow the lawn. This also provides a nice place to shelter from the sun.
On a safety aspect, it may help to prevent children from climbing a tree, as inviting as it looks and who wants to spoil their fun but higher branches are weaker and falling out of a tree can lead to injuries and in some cases fatal.

Crown Reduction

Crown reduction should not be used to reduce the chances of the tree blowing over in a storm. Crown Thinning is the preferred method to minimize storm damage of an otherwise structurally sound tree.

Crown reduction can be considered when the root system of a large maturing tree has substantial decay making it a potential hazard, or on a tree with a high rating.

The objective is to make cuts so that the foliage is left intact on the outer edge of the new, smaller canopy ideally, pruning cuts should not be evident when you stand back from the tree after pruning.

Another reason for crown reduction is for safety. If there are power lines or telephone cables nearby or the tree branches have reached them then it is safe to say an expert is needed. Where there are power lines do not attempt to remove branches yourself, this has to be done by the professionals for safety. Telephone cables can also be an inconvenient source of disgruntle for neighbours, so removing branches and lowering the crown of the tree is essential.

Crown Thinning

Crown Thinning is the preferred method to minimize storm damage of an otherwise structurally sound tree.
Thinning crowns to let in more light by removing some, usually up to 30 percent, of the branches and concentrating on dead or congested shoots is another strategy. Letting more light and air to circulate is beneficial to the health of any tree. It is also very easy to spoil the appearance of the tree so this is best attempted in stages to evaluate the effect before removing more branches.

Removal

Trees removed/felled

It is not always ideal to remove a tree, however, there are many reasons for removing/felling them. We normally remove the branches gradually, getting to the trunk of the tree and cutting them in manageable and safe sizes.

Diseased branches does not necessarily mean the whole tree is diseased. Often the diseased branches can be removed and the otherwise healthy tree can heal and continue to grow healthily.

Storm damaged trees usually need removing for safety, more so for public safety.

Trees that are overgrown can be reduced in size, leylandii are a good example since they are fast growing.  Leylandii have had some bad press and are not particularly popular with neighbours but keeping them trimmed and shaped regularly can overcome their bad press as well as keeping the neighbours happy.

Any trees that are close to buildings can block out the natural light entering the windows, so either need to be pruned/trimmed back or removed.
